How can I get the simulator to start at my airfield?
When you launch XCSoar in simulator mode, you usually want it to show the simulated glider parked on the runway of your airfield, ready for takeoff. Depending on your configuration, XCSoar may start you off at another airport, or even at some location completely off your maps.
XCSoar's simulator will always start at the waypoint currently set as your 'home'. There are a few ways to change your home airfield:
The easiest is to change it through the Waypoint Info dialog. If your home airfield is visible on-screen, you can bring up this dialog by tapping on it from the main map. Otherwise:
*Bring up the Nav menu. (Press the topmost hardware button [leftmost in portrait mode] or tap on screen and choose Menu.) *Select Waypoint Lookup. *Select your airfield from the list. Double tap the list entry to bring up the Waypoint Info page. *Use the > button to move to the second page. *Choose Set as new home from the options that appear.
You will need to exit the simulator and re-launch it for this new setting to take effect.
- If you haven't set a home airfield using the above method, the simulator should start at the home field defined in your waypoint file. If you open up your waypoint file in a text editor, you should see a bunch of lines with comma-separated fields. The fifth field is a set of flags for that waypoint: T if it's a turnpoint, A if it's an airport, and H if it's your home field. Make sure that one (and only one) turnpoint is marked as your home field.
Some or all of the waypoints in my waypoint file are never loaded. Why?
This problem usually means your terrain/topology files are incorrect. XCSoar asks whether to discard any waypoints that are outside the area covered by your terrain/topo files. In the configuration settings (Setup System) you can specify in the option "Waypoints out of Terrain" whether to automatically include or exclude waypoints outside the terrain range.
