Description
My idea is to split the profile up into three parts:
Pilot
- Name
- Weight
- InfoBox? settings
- Airspace display and warning settings
- Safety heights
- Language file
- Font settings
Plane
- Registration, Call Sign
- Polar
- Type
- Index / Handicap
Location
- Map file
- Airspace file(s)
- Waypoint file(s)
- Task settings (Start line radius, ...)
- Terrain color ramp
That way if I change the plane at my club I only have to change to another plane profil instead of editing my old profile or loadind a whole new one. Same for going on vacation or competition. Same for different pilots on the club plane.

please keep in mind that
- checklists
- ballast/plane weight information
are additional properties for the plane profile

hmm... I agree with the ballast stuff, but I don't think that checklists need to be plane dependent... Right now, there is just one checklist file anyway.
For example I have separate frequency checklists for every location I fly...

well,
it depends for which purpose you are using the checklists.
you can create your own ones.
I am using the checklists for storing a lot of different stuff.
For example pre take off check:
this one includes flap settings for air tow or winch launch
Separate Checklist for storing information about optimal flap settings depending on the gliders actual weigth (and speed).
you need this setting only on one type of glider, switching to the next, you may not have flaps, the third one has flaps but needs other settings.
hope this helps
