Description (last modified by Turbo) (diff)
Hi
I know this has been mentioned before, but putting it on the list so it's
formally requested somewhere.
It would be great if XCSoar loaded waypoints and tasks from a single standard-
format file. The format used could be *.DA4, *.CUP or whatever. The
important thing would be the ability to create a comprehensive task file using
a tool like SeeYou? or LXe and then load it into XCSoar in one go. At present
tasks have to be created individually within XCSoar.
Cheers, Keith

Everyone has their own "ideal" way of doing things, so it's difficult to
request something without it being too personal. I suppose what I'm trying to
say is that XCSoar needs a way to edit a task list on a desktop or laptop, and
then transfer it as a job-lot into XCSoar. Adopting a "standard" file format
would allow existing tools to be used for the job. The alternative would be a
utility that can take a standard file format and convert it for use in XCsoar.

I think we don't need DA4... CUP is far more popular.

We have an experimental Cup2XCSoar converter in progress. I'm a bit loathe to
have XCSoar be able to load .cup and .da4 files directly though. Especially for
cup files, that is a different model of how tasks are managed (embedded within
the one file, rather than XCSoar's model of having separate files for each task).
Could be worthwhile revisiting though.
But generally speaking I'd rather have an external program manage this than
doing it within XCSoar.
