On winch launch, if under an airspace, because of the large climb rate e.g. 15 m/s, the airspace warning will go off if there is an airspace at 1000m above the launch site.

Expected behaviour: the airspace warning will not go off during a winch launch.

This is important because we are considering adding a "loud" audible warning sound for airspace warnings that should not distract the winch-launch pilot. Disable airspace warnings for first 30 seconds after takeoff.

I've painted a mockup of a new airspace warning dialog. We could keep the old list as a list and take this one for the warnings.

With only one .xcm map package selected (and no waypoint files), waypoints added in the "1 Site -> Waypts" screen are not saved. "Save" does not show much of a reaction, and once XCSoar reloads its configuration, the new waypoint is gone.

When the global custom fonts setting is enabled a notification warns that XCSoar must be restarted to apply the changes. However, when any of the individual font settings are changed there is no notification that a restart is required before the display will reflect the changes.

My idea is to split the profile up into three parts:

Pilot

• Name
• Weight
• InfoBox? settings
• Airspace display and warning settings
• Safety heights
• Language file
• Font settings

Plane

• Registration, Call Sign
• Polar
• Type
• Index / Handicap

Location

• Map file
• Airspace file(s)
• Waypoint file(s)
• Task settings (Start line radius, ...)
• Terrain color ramp

That way if I change the plane at my club I only have to change to another plane profil instead of editing my old profile or loadind a whole new one. Same for going on vacation or competition. Same for different pilots on the club plane.

Today I noticed that obviously most android users are surfing the web on their computer just to download files and transfer them to their phone.

For installing XCSoar they go to http://xcsoar.org/download/[maps|waypoints]/ to download the files on the computer or type the location by hand into their devices.

So we should add QR-codes to the bubbles so they could point their devices to the screen to get the requested files direct on their mobile phone.

In case no map, waypoints and airspace are configured we should check if such files are available and if not we should display a message to the user explaining how to get them.

Currently the only map scale available displays the distance across the whole screen. This is not very useful. We need a scale which can be used to eyeball a distance without having to tap a waypoint. It is very difficult to estimate a distance using the current scale. We need the same type of scale that winpilot use, showing the distance across 1 centimeter or so, which is much easier to use.

Loggers such as CAI302 send the current ENL value encoded in NMEA sentences ($PCAID). XCSoar should parse these, and log them in the IGC file; also consider the ENL value in task calculations (e.g. no task start while engine is on).

the current defaults suck!

The end of each line in the waypoint comment field is truncated in my Dell Streak in portrait mode (ok in landscape). CUP files can contain important runway and frequency information in the comment section. Currently some of the frequencies are truncated. There can be few solutions: 1 - Introduce configurable font size for waypoint detail info. This may address this by making the font smaller. 2 - Better yet, utilize the 'Airfield Information' page to always show the information in the comment section of the waypoint file if no 'waypoint detail' file is available. At least in the US, we have website which provides all the airport details in the CUP file comment section, so this will be very helpful. I am aware of the 'waipoint detail' file option, but this will require special tool to extract this information from the CUP file.

Very early draft with the basic concept, an expanded version of the Condor soaring simulator's 'red dot' display. A scalable window displayed alongside the mapwindow and infoboxes which plots landables and turnpoints according to bearing and efficiency required to reach. By slaving the display to the glider's track and maccready setting, attempts to eliminate user input when nearing turnpoints, entering final glide or aborting task.

Make the device vibration on Android configurable

A good feature that hopefully isn't too difficult to implement on Android is text to speech. This could be used to either optionally replace or complement the current notifications - Airspace, Above/below Final Glide, Task Start etc.

Hi, this feature request has been mentioned in xcsoar forum before ( http://www.nabble.com/some-ideas-after-5-competitions-tasks-td19224740.html#a19224740), but i could not find it reported in Bugzilla.

In the Task edit menu it would be nice to have the option of entering start gate opening and closing time, and start time (Air start) and possibly also end of task time. Maybe there could be a separate infobox for this information, or perhaps it could be displayed as a countdown on the screen, overlaying the map?

This is perhaps mainly a paragliding issue, but paragliding pilots seem to be a growing user group of XCSoar..

The NAV,DISPLAY,CONFIG and INFO icon boxes need to be better aligned alongside the buttons on the left side if the display. Another ticket mentions the need to embolden the fonts used.

In XCSoar 5.2.0 it was possible to ack the airspace warnings directly with the F-button. Now we have to use th rotary knob. This is very awkward.

When pressing the power button the altair should shut down completely instead of entering service mode. service mode should only be entered on startup when an USB stick is present.
