How do I Exit?

Exit is made quite difficult on purpose. Like all input entries on XCSoar, the exact input to exit depends entirely on your configuration. You can for example map exit to a button directly on the hardware.

That being said here is the standard exit procedure for XCSoar 5.0:

  • Double click on the map (not on a waypoint)
  • Click the menu button now on the screen (top or bottom left)
  • Click Edit now on the screen
  • Click yes

If all else fails you can safely use your Pocket PC reset, although unsaved data may be lost.

(TODO: Update menu to have alternative exit)

How do I Enter and Exit a Text Field?

Many of the text fields (e.g. waypoint name, pilot name) bring up a new dialogue box designed to allow you to enter text without a pen or keyboard.

  • Use Left and Right arrows to select which character to edit
  • Use Up and Down arrows to select the letter (down increases the letter value, numbers come after letters).
  • Click right an extra time to add a space
  • Click Enter (middle of the Arrow keys) to Save and Exit the dialoge box

(TODO: Update the dialogue to have alternative exit and input methods).

How do I see more than 16 entries of Waypoints?

There is no scroll bar to indicate that there are more than 16 entries in the waypoint select, however they are still there. Click with the Down Arrow until you go past the bottom entry and the list will scroll down.

You can also use Left/Right arrows within the list to jump forward one page at a time.

How do I make big changes to input numbers like MacCready?

When you click on the MacCready (MC) box you can increase it by small amounts using up and down arrows. Try holding down the key it should jump up and down in larger amounts.

You can play with this by setting the GPS Height in Simulator mode.
